I got the "This is your brain on Feelies" poster for my girlfriend even though neither of us had ever heard any Feelies.

They were excellent. You listen to Crazy Rhythms, though, and you think, "These guys could have been as big as Devo," but then the vocals kick in and you realize why they weren't. Maybe if they'd had a producer who kicked their asses into projecting a little more, putting more energy into the vocals (and didn't mix the record so you could barely hear them at points).

Jon just sent me a few tracks... this shit is awesome. It's too bad they never got bigger.

i like the vocals on crazy rhythms. their charm is partially the lack of projecting.

Jack Cole (jackcole), Sunday, 26 March 2006 19:59 (twenty years ago)

they sound like cap'n jazz a bit

I used to put Raise Eyebrows and their version of Dancing Barefoot on every mix tape I made in college.

"forces at work" reminds me a lot of "forget who we are" by cap'n jazz

Time For A Witness is quite ok!

Watching Clem Snide break into a frenzied jam about 5 years ago sparked my hopes that they were about seque into a Feelies song, but alas...

Still, "Slipping Into Something" is so fucking killer...

kingfish ubermensch dishwasher sundae (kingfish 2.0), Monday, 27 March 2006 06:36 (twenty years ago)

ha yeah -- "Slipping Into Something" is so totally the jam. guitars never sounded better .. I kinda wish all their songs were 7 minutes long... i'm just a broken record that way I guess
