Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 02:30 (nineteen years ago)

what happened to the old soft circle thread, the one where I was accuseed of cutting in line? I miss that one.

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

There are 3 soft circle threads on the All Noise Dude Summertime Fun Board and Pickle Bar, this one's about the new record.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 15:20 (nineteen years ago)

who, in this day and age, has such a hard time with people who are active in more than one medium...

bb (bbrz), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

" I’m not sure what song this is." = amateurist?

Machibuse '80 (ex machina), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

"im not sure what sonf this is." = reason for nard shots

bb (bbrz), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 16:41 (nineteen years ago)

six months pass...
O_o

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 29 January 2007 01:47 (nineteen years ago)

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 29 January 2007 07:51 (nineteen years ago)

ysi

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 29 January 2007 17:25 (nineteen years ago)

do you like Mickey Hart?

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 29 January 2007 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

"Sundazed" is fucking amazing. whole album is really nice, but that one totally stands out.

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 29 January 2007 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

[CONTROVERSIAL MODERATOR EDIT]

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 29 January 2007 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

deindexed.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 29 January 2007 19:16 (nineteen years ago)

hmmmmm.

acid waffle house (dubplatestyle), Monday, 29 January 2007 20:17 (nineteen years ago)

so when exactly is this thing out? eastern developments website is of no help.

acid waffle house (dubplatestyle), Monday, 29 January 2007 20:18 (nineteen years ago)

not so good

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 29 January 2007 20:30 (nineteen years ago)

it's out today in the UK and Japan. I think it's out tomorrow in the USA.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 29 January 2007 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 00:07 (nineteen years ago)

Is "sundazed" the one that sounds like a ninja shimmying the walls of the bubble room in willy wonka and the chocolate factory?

T. Weiss (Timmy), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

I like it.

Rebel.yell.For.Internet.cakes (nordicskilla), Saturday, 3 February 2007 21:39 (nineteen years ago)

SUCKS

UART variations (ex machina), Sunday, 4 February 2007 00:49 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i want to like this but it just sounds like peter gabriel's soundtrack to "last temptation of christ" ... keep expecting nusrat fateh ali khan to start belting out ...

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 4 February 2007 08:25 (nineteen years ago)

i gave up on it quick...just feels lazy and uninspired. we hate it when our friends and aquaintences become unsuccessful

bb (bbrz), Sunday, 4 February 2007 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

i was going to hold my tongue, but since we're deindexed here i couldnt get over how it sounded like the background music at The Body Shop.

the kwisatz bacharach (sanskrit), Sunday, 4 February 2007 14:05 (nineteen years ago)

hmmm, whered i find that smallknife.jpg in the indierock thread again?

bb (bbrz), Sunday, 4 February 2007 14:25 (nineteen years ago)

i like it. it's good fallin' asleep music.

acid waffle house (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 4 February 2007 17:33 (nineteen years ago)

it's great actually

Rebel.yell.For.Internet.cakes (nordicskilla), Sunday, 4 February 2007 18:22 (nineteen years ago)

So the lines are drawn:

NYC=AGAINST
NOT NYC=FOR

UART variations (ex machina), Sunday, 4 February 2007 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

ha

bb (bbrz), Sunday, 4 February 2007 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

The lines are really only drawn as such if you see the world a very certain way. I don't.

Rebel.yell.For.Internet.cakes (nordicskilla), Sunday, 4 February 2007 21:42 (nineteen years ago)

the 2nd half is better than the 1st

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 4 February 2007 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

id put it on now, but im a bit too into these black flag demos to make it a fair appraisal

bb (bbrz), Sunday, 4 February 2007 22:03 (nineteen years ago)

the dancey last track "earthed" is kind of good. nice cover art. trying to be kind here.

the kwisatz bacharach (sanskrit), Monday, 5 February 2007 00:10 (nineteen years ago)

moving to nyc kills everyone's creativity

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 00:13 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, did you hear what it did to dylan?

come on, jon...

bb (bbrz), Monday, 5 February 2007 05:00 (nineteen years ago)

do the NYers not even like "Sundazed"? i think that's the only one i'd go back to now. (i usually give first listens a higher rating just for newness factor, i rarely listen to most things more than once)

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 5 February 2007 07:00 (nineteen years ago)

i just put this on w/o introduction and girlfriend starts moaning "why are you putting on SPA MUSIC, i'm trying to stay awake and read kant" ...

i am liking this better and better as i listen to it, especially the 2nd half which reminds me a lot of my favorite parts of jackie o motherfucker

vahid (vahid), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:20 (nineteen years ago)

i guess it's just a weird adjustment ... i was expecting "seadrum" crossed w/ "beaches and canyons" and instead it's got more of a JOMF vibe ... the only tracks i still have major problems w/ are #s 2 + 3.

vahid (vahid), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:22 (nineteen years ago)

i think "ascend" and "shimmer" / "whirled" / "earth" are pretty amazing, actually ... maybe not coincidentally the closest to "beaches and canyons"

what is the jp bonus track??

and what about "beaches and canyons". is there a black dice socal connection? how did these guys nail the cosmic beaches and canyons vibes so well if they're from maine or whatever??

vahid (vahid), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:26 (nineteen years ago)

TS: The Summer Hits Beaches and Canyons vs. Black Dice Beaches & Canyons

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:40 (nineteen years ago)

You mean you guys didn't hear feel the light or ascend like 2 years ago? lol

is there a black dice socal connection?

some of dem are from socal originally? There was T Tauri which was California/Colorado?

ALSO RHODE ISLAND = OCEAN STATE = WINDSURFING HEAVEN

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:41 (nineteen years ago)

and shasta beats me to the post (fuck u dialup)!

Beaches and Canyons is 5 years old and still better than any of the wank since then

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:43 (nineteen years ago)

You mean you guys didn't hear feel the light or ascend like 2 years ago? lol

check the first post n00b.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 5 February 2007 08:53 (nineteen years ago)

vahid (vahid), Monday, 5 February 2007 09:06 (nineteen years ago)

I was lolling a Vahid!

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:49 (nineteen years ago)

I LIKE.

BONERTIME! (ddb1), Monday, 5 February 2007 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

The vocals bring to mind both TM and bodhisttva dharma/sutra.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 5 February 2007 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

not good

am0n (am0n), Monday, 5 February 2007 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

Jack Cole (jackcole), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:38 (nineteen years ago)

Providence > NYC (until everyone you like moves to NYC and you get tired of hanging out by your high school)

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

(uhhh except elmo obv)

UART variations (ex machina), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

"Stones And Trees" is the standout track for me.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

i'm kind of bummed though... there's a song in his live set that isn't on this record nor the 7" that i really like. it's the really loud one in open D-tuning (D A D F# A D). :-(

i prefer Hiram Bocachica

the kwisatz bacharach (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 03:47 (nineteen years ago)

is this an lp-only release, or will there be cds too? anyone?

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

No, the release is not lp pnly. The cd is out now in the U.S.

Kate Thompson (Chel5), Thursday, 8 February 2007 00:59 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, the Japanese release does have a bonus track. It's a remix by Guillermo Scott Heron (aka Prefuse 73) of one of the songs (I'm not sure which) from the album.

Kate Thompson (Chel5), Thursday, 8 February 2007 01:01 (nineteen years ago)

Soft Circle’s new album, Shore Obsessed (Post Present Medium), is its first to feature collaborations from new member and multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Vida (Town and Country, Bird Show, Singer), and includes additional vocals by singer-songwriter Matteah Baim.

jaxon, Wednesday, 10 November 2010 19:23 (fifteen years ago)
