I had 1 or 2 of the big plastic shogun warriors toys. I'd like them back now, please.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

seriously aside from mom and dad fighting, I think Lennon getting capped is my earliest, most severe childhood trauma. I'm not sure I ever got over it.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

To this day I am still upset that those guys would work all day and then have their little structures eaten by jerks.

dean? (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

but if the Fraggles didn't eat the buildings, what would happen? It's a sad cycle, a symbiotic relationship. The Doozers keep building and if the Fraggles didn't eat them they'd fill the space or something.

I meant record players in general, but this was the one I had, actually:

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 26 August 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

It breaks my heart that kids these days don't grow up with these plastic monstrosities, that they can use to destroy their parents' record collection with.

Or don't they? I dunno. What do people buy their kids these days, anyway? Plastic CD players? Haha - I'm not trying to be all vinyl fetishist and shit, but growing up with these cheap-ass record players was awesome!!

Monetizing Eyeballs (diamond), Thursday, 26 August 2004 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I guess I was wrong. I had the FP player that HSTENCIl posted. I remember trying to scratch my BATDANCE record with the blue arm.

dean? (deangulberry), Thursday, 26 August 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i got to play with the one my folks had. christopher cross and dave brubeck, look out! karen carpenter, hook it up! sesame st. christmas and it's a christmas tree, charlie brown... or whatever that was called. my parent's also had a lot of tasteful opera... like i ever had a clue what that is... but they've got like a 10 lp set of puccini stuff and all that jazz. my first record was bought brand new from camelot records... for $7 hard-earned ohio leaf rakin dollars... no buckeyes on my watch amigos! oh, the record... night ranger's "midnite madness".

that said, mtv screwed me up. purple rain-era prince. "momma, that man's acting like a lady..." do all 6 or 7 year olds watch the top 20 video countdown? "eyes without a face" by billy idol. "momma, those ladies have leather pants that clap to the beat!" wham.

devo was weird cause like... uh... they were supposedly from akron, where we used to live, really close to where we did live... and so i remember expecting dudes with radiation suits and potted plants on their heads over there. naturally, i was pretty disappointed everytime we went shopping there or whatever.

In my mind, the Great American Hero and the movie Condor Man are the same. But they're not.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 26 August 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i think great american hero had a 5 star theme song.
