these guys are like the local openers for anything vaguely interesting on the post-rock front. i've never really found them very interesting, but then again, i've never heard any of their records.

KYLE IS ON THEIR STREET TEAM

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:21 (twenty-one years ago)

could be local band syndrome. i know living in philly i yawned whenever i looked in the paper and saw that bardo pond, temple of bon matin, etc were playing.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:22 (twenty-one years ago)

sigh, whatever happened to Philly pride?

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

My friend Drew's dad called Philly "the city of brotherly shove".

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

And he called Cleveland "the mistake on the lake".

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

They were from Pennsylvania and they said "Johnny Wooker" where I would say "Johnny Walker".

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

the eagles blow. i renounce them. same with the sixers. as soon as i moved to massholechussetts the patriots won the super bowl, that's all i know.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

but, you know, i still hate the celtics and the bruins, ya know. i don't even watch sports anymore. philly infects you with a weird sports enthuisiasm. and then all the teams just lose and lose. it's so masochistic.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

jeff and danny were at the black dice show the other night, for a while anyway.

bitch slsk cough this up now pls thnx

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

they do open for too many people though, I think, part of this is that they have a lot of friends (all those constellation dudes) so they always get those shows when they come to town. there are other bands in sf, bookers!

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

bardo pond would open for every single band that ever smoked out of a bong. they would do 50 shows a year just opening for stonerz.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

bardo pond's great, dude.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

"Yawning" and "Bardo Pond" kinda go together, no?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

DON'T START TIM. BARDO POND ARE MY PERSONAL SACRED COW.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

i like the pond. it's just a case of the local band yawnz.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

i stopped going to brother jt shows too after the 80th time.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

although i would never ever miss atom & his package!!!! (not really though)

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

IAN, DID YOU MEAN "SACRED COW" OR DID YOU MEAN GOLDEN CALF?

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to play Amanita constantly when it came out, but I never kept up with them after that. Funny how that happens sometimes. I haven't even listened to that one in a couple years time. Great pot-smoking album, though. I just might have to break it out tonight. Tim, between dissing BP and the David Crosby album on that other thread, I'm beginning to think you don't partake of the herb?

Monetizing Eyeballs (diamond), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:12 (twenty-one years ago)

temple of bon matin were always worth seeing though cuz that dood roxx the skinz so hard. he's a dyanamo. philly's own ginger baker or something.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost to tim: let's not get confused with roger adultery's old band!

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:15 (twenty-one years ago)

ME, that is true, actually.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

That's cool, I don't smoke anymore either. Used to though. I think that's why I like stuff that reminds of what it felt like when I DID smoke it...

But really there are some just beautiful moments on that Amanita record. They knew what they were doing.

Monetizing Eyeballs (diamond), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

they are really good at what they do. i don't really listen to them thogh. i don't know why.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess, to generalize, it seemed like stoner rock Mogwai or something to me.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 27 August 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

search traxxx: every man, tommy gun angel, despite the roar, two planes, this time (so fucked), amen
