dean? (deangulberry), Monday, 13 September 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

deaner, you have a girlfriend and you go to art school, who do you think you are?

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i go to art school?

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

don't you? or you "paint" or whatever. the point is, you = fagtog.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:16 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, you're so loveable.

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i am about as real a person as dean gulberry, j3ffy.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:22 (twenty-one years ago)

But anyways, Ian, it was a joke. But you know, I'm just a fagtog in my art school, etc etc etc.

(xp - i will change my name to "don rickles" to make things less confusing)

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't even know what this thread is about.

can we go back to talking about SNACKS? i am gonna grill me some chicken cutlets marinated in a hummus/olive oil/garlic/ginger/cumin mess.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i made chicken for my parents tonight, marinated overnight in yogurt and a shitload of curry spices and kosher salt. grilled kebab-style and served with a sauce of pureed tomato, cucumber, more spices, and a touch of cream. side dish: quinoa with diced red, orange, and yellow peppers and a bit of saffron. i love big kitchens.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 01:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I heated up some jyoti and rice - perfect for the lazy bachelor.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 01:39 (twenty-one years ago)

UHH I ATE THESE TONIGHT

rice and beans

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, if I had a picture of indigestion, I'd post that too.

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 01:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I AM SO HUNGRY.

THERE IS NOTHING TO COOK.

SIGH.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

being broke sucks.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:24 (twenty-one years ago)

DDB IF YOU ATE CHIKKEN YOU COULD COME OVER

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:25 (twenty-one years ago)

make us tofu college boy!

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i have some in the fridge. YOU GUYS BRING THE BEER. wednesday night? thursday night? i am free to party all time.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

NICE.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I get paid wednesday so I'll definitely bring the beer.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

tonight i'm going to make a wheat crust pizza w/ spinach and gorgonzola cheese.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

That sounds good.

I may go with M&Ms again tonight.

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I am at the point before moving where I am coming up with meals to eat from various leftover foods that I do not want to move with me, but I also do not want to buy new food. Tonight I have: oatmeal, cocoa, large pasta shells, dill havarti, somekindofsmokedcheesethatisorangebutnotcheddar (this is the german name for it), flour, whiskey, marmite, garlic, butter, frozen bananas, and soy milk.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

garlic/dill havarti/butter sauze for shells, dude.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

make a sauce with cheese, garlic, butter, and a bit of flour. dump it on the pasta. later, drink whiskey til you pass out. tomorrow morning, have a shake with bananas, soy milk, and a little cocoa powder.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

raise your hand if you think ian and i should have our own cooking show.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Totally necessary!

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

THE SHELLS ARE HUGE THOUGH. the kind they stuffed in the school cafeteria.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

then stuff them with cheeze & bake in garlic/butter/more cheeze sauze.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

an Ian/lauren cooking show would be rad. Ian why don't you get some sort of cookin' job?

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

But yeah, I am think I am making that, although I am full of like 3 bagels, and I don't even eat bagels.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm... maybe boil & then bake with cheese?

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

hey, wasn't there a show like that, where people would come to your house and make a gourmet meal out of whatever ingrediants you had in the fridge at that time?

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

xpostz: being a line cook is not nearly as fun as being a chef in my own kitchen. i was a pizza chef for a while, and i also worked at a diner type-place where i got to make pancakes & homefries & eggs & such.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

YES THERE WAS CAREY. I DON'T REMEMBER TEH NAME RIGHT NOW THOUGH

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep thinking that CRACKERBASH thread is about how my half korean friend got called a cracker this weekend.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i think it was called food 911.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, that's it./

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I was thinking more short-order fry cook, Ian.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

two words: sandwich artist.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

with a little white hat!

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I ate McDonald's today.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i have found nori and egg replacer. I have a feeling this egg replacer is from when i was in college. I should never move food again.

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

"egg replacer"? wtf

Ian c=====8 (orion), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:35 (twenty-one years ago)

PUT NUTRITIONAL YEAST IN YOUR TATERS!!!

Carey (Carey), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a vegan thing. you use it in baked goods, mainly. i have a suspicion that it's the main reason why most vegan pastries and cookies can also double as deadly weapons.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

YUM!
EGG REPLACER PWNZ.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not good at it at all.

adam. (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 14 September 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
OK NOW I REALLY NEED HELPS
is making pad thai hard/time consuming? do i neeeeeeed to deep fry the tofu to get it crispy outside or just pan fry? GUYJACKS IAN SAID YOU WOULD KNOW!!!!11

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 00:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Pan frying is not good enough. It needs to be deep fried to puff it up.

S!monB!rch (Carey), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i am sooooooooooooooo hungry

Carl Winslow and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

CX:

i have no idea! i've never made pad thai (there are a ton of places in my hood that have it for cheap).

GGX

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't cook but i ate some indian food. was ok.

Carl Winslow and Jeanne-Claude (deangulberry), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

the prepackaged deep-fried tofu that you can buy in asian groceries is the way to go for pad thai.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

monkfish w/ lemon risotto
jerk chicken, rice & peas, fried plantains

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

hi lauren!

have you ever had monkfish liver? it is yummy!

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

i love it! but what is it about monkfish that gives them such tasty, meaty livers? is it specific only to them, or would any other large-ish fish be similar?

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i hate monkfish liver!! too strong!!

Ian John50n (orion), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

lauren,
i'm pretty sure its the diet. was talkin about this with my friend whos an executive chef, and he was telling me its the same reason why the liver of a lobster (tamale) is so damn good. THEY EAT CRAP OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN>>>>>>

brock (brock), Wednesday, 5 January 2005 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Thursday, 2 March 2006 18:39 (twenty years ago)

steamed kale with sausages and fried potatoes has somehow become my default dish lately

http://warden-online.de/images/gruenkohl.jpg

suffice to say im getting fatter by the minute :'o-{

Yawn (Wintermute), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:10 (twenty years ago)

A whole culture around kale has developed in north-western Germany around the towns of Bremen and Oldenburg. There, most social clubs of any kind will have a "Grünkohlfahrt" ("kale tour") sometime in January, visiting a country inn to consume large quantities of kale, sausage and schnapps. Most communities in the area have a yearly kale festival which includes naming a "kale king".

Yawn (Wintermute), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:11 (twenty years ago)

that sounds so delicious. what type of sausages? would i want to get a bratwurst or something if i were to try this here? or is it more a kielbasa type of sausage?

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:15 (twenty years ago)

those are mettenden, a really thick-skinned type of pork sausage. any other kind of sausage would burst open when theyre cooked with the kale - i tried using cabanossi once and they pretty much disintegrated

Yawn (Wintermute), Thursday, 2 March 2006 19:22 (twenty years ago)

last night i grilled up some tofu with olive oil, corn starch, cumin, onion powder, cayenne... wuz good.

Autonomous University of Zacatecas (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 2 March 2006 22:13 (twenty years ago)

one year passes...

going to a pot-luck tomorrow, hosted by vegans. i'm going to make a green-bean style casserole, canned french fried onions and all, except i'm going to substitute asparagus for the green beans. i'm working off this recipe, with a few variations, but i'm kinda scared about using soy creamer(!?!?) in the sauce. eek.

elmo argonaut, Friday, 9 November 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

i made lamb stew this week and it was delicious but oh i forgot im not supposed to talk about it here :X (DOUBLES STANDARDS MUCH U JERKS?)
