60s not 60s - a collection of a few 60s favorites, what I had mp3s of, in response to Lauren saying she wanted some Beatles. I need more Beatles myself.

Art/DIY/Post-Punk - Near and dear to my heart, some of this I only have digitised because I had previously made a compilation for the Typical Girls mailing list. Jangly post-punk, angular post-punk, scrappy diy pop, mostly early 80s.

Disco kinda not Disco - a sorta electro-latin-disco-great gatsby vibe, very organic yet still lots of drum machines, a pretty eclectic mix that has some super cool and fun stuff on it. Disco, No Wave Funk, Euro-Disco, UK Jazz Funk, etc. An Ultramarine track that breaks out of my usual late 70s/early 80s mode, but fits as a very organic disco/techno track that samples the Eagles and Robert Wyatt.
1. Celestial Choir-Stand on the Word (Larry Levan mix)2. Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band-Sunshower3. Belle Epoque-Miss Broadway4. Can-I Want More5. Amanda Lear-Follow Me (Wally MacDonald Disco Mix)
Punk not Punk - again, not trying to be completist, just what I like, and what I have on the computer. For this one some thanks must go to Chuck Warner/Hyped2Death and Johan Kugelberg/Killed by Death, and Steve Gregory of the Pooh Sticks...This CD really totally KICKS ASS!
1. O Level-Pseudo Punk2. The Damned-New Rose3. The Misfits-Where Eagles Dare4. Kraut-Matinee5. Art Attacks-I Am A Dalek6. Blitzkrieg Bop-U.F.O.7. Seize-Why?8. Wipers-Does It Hurt?9. Catholic Discipline-Underground Babylon
Italo Not Italos-Laura Branigan's second biggest hit or so was a cover of an italo-disco song. This is mostly italo-disco and some electronic new wave rock dance type stuff that sorta fits to me.
1. Laura Branigan-Self Control2. RIS Feat. Celeste-Love N Music3. Charlie-Spacer Woman4. Mr. Flagio-Take A Chance5. Plastic Mode-Baja Imperial6. Gay Cat Park-I Am a Vocoder7. Folk Not Folk-Some new "revival" type stuff and the oldies, both better known uk type folk and us/nyc type folk. Why is Phil Ochs not on this or the AM mix? I don't have any mp3s. damn. I don't know the Currituck Co. or Vetiver song names because they were from demos, the latter not out yet and the former I think is the first song on the Vetiver CD.

Richard Youngs-Soon It Will Be Fire
PowerWavePop - this had potential, but I now realize I didn't sequence it. Some of it was cast-offs from the punk mix and the art/post-punk mix. Some of it's very power-pop punk rock and some very electronic new wave pop and some just plain power pop. a great selection, ruined by bad(no) sequencing. SERIOUS apologies to Chuck Warner and Michael Train on this one, especially a few volumes of the Homework CD-rs.
1. Real Kids-All Kindsa Girls2. The Distractions-Doesn't Bother Me3. Dolly Mixture-Everything and More4. Los Microwaves-Silent Screamers5. Alternate Learning-When She's Alone6. Devo-Come Back Jonee7. The Algebra Mothers-Strawberry Cheesecake8. The Distractions-Time Goes By So Slow9. Circles-Opening Up10. Alter Boys-Piles11. Alcoholics-Pesticides12. Records-Starry Eyes13. Screaming Urge-Homework14. Article 58-Event to Come15. Ash Wednesday-Love by Numbers16. REM-Wolves, Lower17. True Believers-Accept It18. The Student Teachers-What I Can't Feel19. The Student Teachers-Channel 1320. Nervus Rex-Don't Look21. Nervus Rex-Love Affair22. Meat Puppets-We're Here23. US Ape-Ignorance is Bliss24. Ultravox-Some of Them25. Pylon-Cool
so there it is. I hope you enjoy them Lauren. There's nothing in the world I like doing better then sequencing records, so this gave me great pleasure, not as much as knowing you of course...

Self Control was originally recorded by a group called RAF, I think, but I prefer Laura's version. I don't have any teenline CDs, but have most of the Homework and Messthethics CDs.
Unfortunately, I don't like Jerry Orbach's singing very much, but I do like his dancing.

Blitzkrieg Bop was a UK punk band formed by John Hodgson, who went on to front Bascax, who were on Earcom 2 w/ Joy Division, and the Gynaecologists.
I wrote this about him 4 or 5 years ago:

Brock, you really found all of that? Actually, considering all the sources, nothing on their hasn't been comped or bootlegged so can't be really that rare...but who on earth has a copy of Einstein Experiance by the Plastic Idols? I've never even seen that. Got it on a tape Jonathan Marx from Lambchop sent me years ago. Their other single, I.U.D. is a well-known classic KBD type punker, this one is mostly not liked for being too "new wave".
And where could you get Escort Girls by the Prefects? There's one dude online selling a bootleg of the Prefects Peel Sessions, including the unreleased tracks, but he's about to lose that particular income.
Lauren, I have to see if I still have any promo copies. But I'm putting packages together including yr iPod thing and while I was at it, I made 2 more mixes to be posted shortly. Should I just give them to you when yr here? I don't even know if I'll be around. I don't want to send the stuff to cleveland while yr in NY or flying to London, are you going back home after NY?
I'm in the middle of a traumatic week off from work involving 3 dentist visits, 1 dr visit, 2 eye doctor visits, and one visit to Ikea that was worse then them all.
