1. when you're on your last packet of the box of instant ramen noodles.

Eating LOADS and I mean LOADS of chips. So many chips!

My grandma always used to say "why do your forearms look like scrapings?". I saw Tom Hanks hiding from me the other day. At least I say I SAW him but he was very well hidden. I want that straw cannon on my desk in triplicate by Monday or I'll set Anita Baker on you. There she is - can you see her? ALL GRUMPY!

Have at ye!

one year passes...

swimming under a pink moon in the pool in my mom's backyard, hanging out with my sister, two days before i have to fly home and summer officially ends

same trip: three friends & i eating an entire box of ice cream sandwiches on the car ride back to my mom's place, listening to kylie & the majesticons, the way it feels to sit in the back seat w/ the windows down watching the sky

helping the girl behind the counter with her calculus homework @ the portugese bakery in my old nabe at four in the morning, fairly drunk, realizing i could still solve those 'water flows into a cylindrical prism @ at a rate of blah blah blah' word problems, laughing at myself

two years pass...

I have been spending a lot of time with family and talking about family lately, and I'm a little more aware of what my relationship is with my family, so there have been all of these poignant moments lately that I hope I don't forget. Might as well put them somewhere.

-- my dad, who had just finished celebrating his 50th high school reunion, discovered that not only had the Mich@3l L35y he went to high school with written a bunch of books (he found one on my bookshelf) but my dad discovered that this guy totally loathes everyone he went to school with to the point that after my dad tracked him down and got him on the phone, L35y ended the conversation, "i will never speak with you again." Dad and I had a good o_O about that

-- my nephews are smart and reasonable and fun to be around, and they behaved themselves perfectly on the train. i was so proud!

-- my bro in law posted sthg to facebook about quitting caffeine and then said he had only had two diet sodas that morning and i found myself wondering whether it was caffeine or diet soda he was really quitting and i felt a stab of poignance for him, which had never happened before because i can't really read some people very well. this status update helped me understand him a little better.

anyway, those are my sentimental moments. these happen all the time and i never write them down but today i did. i guess things that have to do with family just seem more important/worth writing down? i dunno. this thread could use some more sentimental moments, imo.

something quite poignant about someone being so absolutely sure of his feelings about people he hasn't seen for half a century

I know! No, there wasn't any one thing. My dad insisted that he had not ever had any ill will against him. L35y insisted seeing his classmates again would be like "having an Auschwitz prisoners' reunion" so who knows. Dad said the convo was very unusual.
