Excuse attempt at 733T-speak. I was wondering how many people here have tried this? I was tempted but then heard all about evil crack codes causing cancer of the eyes and hosting of the porn servers.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 13:55 (twenty years ago)

In the last few months I've scored R0me T0tale War, Sniv 4 & M0r0w1nd, plus a bunch of Luc4s4rts adventures. I LOVE BT.

I'm thinking six, six, six (noodle vague), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 14:14 (twenty years ago)

i do this.

jeffrey (johnson), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 14:15 (twenty years ago)

All the time, yeah. You kind of get used to which teams you can trust to have crack exes that aren't virii, but then as long as you scan everything first it's not really a problem anyway.

JimD (JimD), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Now can we de-index this thread just to be super-safe?

I'm thinking six, six, six (noodle vague), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 14:43 (twenty years ago)

Any suggestions of teams? Look at me all leeching the hivemind.

thread is now cloaked.

Er, jeez, can't remember really. Reloaded, RiSE, Hoodlum.

JimD (JimD), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 16:06 (twenty years ago)

I usually go via T0rr3ntspy, Kv. A quick read through the comments should tell you whether the files work or not, as long as you bear in mind that some people post hysterical badly spelled flames just cos they don't know how to open a .rar file.

I'm thinking six, six, six (noodle vague), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 16:20 (twenty years ago)

I get a lot of music from there 666, I know what you mean about the comments pages!

Cheers all for help and pointers.

gkit, I thought that 7 = L. Not my fault that I can't keep up with you hep young cats. Or should that be kittens?

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Thursday, 16 March 2006 10:27 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
Finally did it! Well d/loaded it. Only problem, I can't use it. It's something involving .iso. I am aware that I need to emulate a CD for the game. Does anyone know of a simple user-friendly (ie self explanatory) program to use that will let me use my totally-legal-no-need-to-worry-well-maybe-a-little game?

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 08:09 (nineteen years ago)

A .iso is a disc image, Nero will burn it to disc if you double click on it

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 08:53 (nineteen years ago)

Or there's a program called "Daemon Tools" that can mount isos and fake drives and do other stuff which I never looked into.

melton mowbray's APOCALYPTO! (adr), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 10:16 (nineteen years ago)

Alcohol 120% and PowerISO will do the same thing, amusingly also available via BT from the usual places. They're great and save me mega $$$ on CDRs.

adam (adam), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 11:06 (nineteen years ago)

Kewl! Okay, I've heard of that Alcohol 120. I'll look for that and see if it helps. Is it quite straightforward how it works? Like will the .iso automatically find that program to open?

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 12:21 (nineteen years ago)

Also thanks guys again!

lord pooperton (ex machina), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 14:25 (nineteen years ago)

daemon tools is free and v. straightforward for mountage.

jeffrey (johnson), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 17:21 (nineteen years ago)

Someone I was talking to earlier said that it needed a lot of tweaking. I'll give the alcohol a try first. Then when I'm drunk I'll try the daemon :)

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

Daemon Tools work great...

BTW has anyone tried burning a game image for a PS2?

MICKEY TO THREAD

Jon made me spit water over my monitor.

Shadow of the Waxwing (noodle vague), Tuesday, 20 June 2006 22:52 (nineteen years ago)

Bold Jon! Hurting someone's feelings and wrecking Noodle's monitor... I used Alcohol on the first .iso and it seems to work. Now to find an instruction manual online as I appear to be a bit slow picking this game up. No really...

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 10:14 (nineteen years ago)

I find Daemon a little easier to use than Alcohol but it's not too bad.

Half loaf, half pompadour (noodle vague), Wednesday, 21 June 2006 14:31 (nineteen years ago)

I'll keep at the alcohol (yay!) but look at daemon seeing as the latter is free and downloadable and I've never really been to comfortable using d'loaded progs like.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Thursday, 22 June 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

BTW has anyone tried burning a game image for a PS2?

I have. It's pretty easy to do, you just have to get DVDDecrypter, which I believe is free. Then provided your PS2 is chipped that's you.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Thursday, 22 June 2006 18:44 (nineteen years ago)

You don't even need a chipped ps2 just the wonder of swap magic.
Blah: swapmagic3.com

I'd suggest going with a fliptop lid if you go for it because the slide tool is pretty hellish.
