inspired by the "games you never plaid" thread.

i wonder if it's possible to set up some kind of exchange programme?

like im going to trust you bastards

sunny successor (katharine), Thursday, 23 March 2006 16:51 (twenty years ago)

I'll send you Silent Hill 4 (for XBox) free of charge. Maybe.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 23 March 2006 17:08 (twenty years ago)

I could swap with ken easily enough, except I suspect we buy all the same games in the first place.

JimD (JimD), Thursday, 23 March 2006 17:45 (twenty years ago)

No, this is not a bad idea and one that I instituted over a monkeyfilter. It worked okay!

I'd be happy to do it again if you think the rules make sense.

Here's my thinking:

1) Swaps must be within the same country, due to region copy protection.

2) Swaps should be between folks who promise to mail on a SPECIFIC date (i.e. we BOTH mail our stuff out on Monday, February 28th), thus preventing shrugs of "Well, I got MY game... I'll mail out yours in awhile."

3) Interested swappers should list swappable games on this post. Once you've posted a list of what you have to trade, you can make offers; NOT before.

4) No cash offers, no multiple games for one game, no begging for freebies. Simple one to one game swapping.

5) Cross platform trading is just fine (i.e. X-Box for SNES or PS2 for Gamecube or PC for Mac) if both parties are in agreement on the trade.

6) Trade working games only (duh) and list if you have the book and original box.

7) You pay for your own shipping.

8) NO COPIED GAMES. Originals only.

9) Be nice, be fair, be honest... or get called out for a serious beating.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 23 March 2006 20:34 (twenty years ago)

I got some good games over there and I imagine we'd have little problems doin' it here. Y'all are good folk.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 23 March 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

we don't need all those rules, i think. like 1) won't apply to DS games.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 23 March 2006 21:24 (twenty years ago)

plus i think the only other canadian ilger lives next door to me.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 23 March 2006 21:25 (twenty years ago)

I'll post a list of stuff for potential trade tomorrow.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 March 2006 00:56 (twenty years ago)

I could swap with ken easily enough, except I suspect we buy all the same games in the first place.

and at the same time!!

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 26 March 2006 10:05 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, this could be cool. I'd be OK with trading with regulars here... I imagine the potential repercussions would dissuade most people from being dirty thieves.

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Sunday, 26 March 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 26 March 2006 22:54 (twenty years ago)

Haha Laura I am a Klingon in good standing, I am honorable to trade with!

GC
Pikmin
Soul Calibur II

I don't have many games to begin with.

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 26 March 2006 23:23 (twenty years ago)

Hm. I'd have a go at SCII, seeing as a never played the series at all.
Anything of interest in my pile?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 March 2006 00:46 (twenty years ago)

Tell me about Harvest Moon.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 27 March 2006 03:04 (twenty years ago)

I bought it for my aminal crossin' obsessed girlfriend and she turned her nose up at it, so it was never played.
I got obsessive with the ol'school nintendo version. Anybody wanna help me out here?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 March 2006 04:58 (twenty years ago)

It took laura soooo long to find the discommedation pixxx give her some credit plz

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Monday, 27 March 2006 05:35 (twenty years ago)

I have no idea what that picture is of. Do tell.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 March 2006 06:02 (twenty years ago)

hey laura i'd love minish cap but i'm not sure what i have to offer right now! let me figure it all out

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 27 March 2006 16:16 (twenty years ago)

It's when that wuss of a Klingon Mr. WOOF, on behalf of his bio daddy, decided to take the blame for a massacre that was caused by another Klingon whose family was thick with the High Council, and thus thee important Klingons exiled him 4evah except when they offered him the Emperorship. POLITICAL STABILITY OVER FAMILY HONOR?? WTF MANG?

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 27 March 2006 16:59 (twenty years ago)

The implication is that if you steal games, ILG will be like the Klingon High Council and you will be like Worf (except you will really be GUILTY) and thus dishonored and exiled. The implication is also that I am a huge geek.

Animal Crossing is indeed for GC; I have edited my list accordingly.

Forks, Harvest Moon is a silly and charming Animal Crossing-esque game. This one (Save the Homeland) involves a young boy who has to surprise! save his small bucolic town and it involves a lot of farming and farm related tasks. Different things happen during day/night, but it is not synced to real life time. I have fond memories of pushing cows around and collecting fruit.

S1ocki, tell me your list and perhaps we can make a trade! Lee, how did you like Pikmin? Was it fun?

Laura H. (laurah), Monday, 27 March 2006 17:35 (twenty years ago)

laura i'm going to check what games i have when i go home! i don't have that many so it won't take long!

do you have mario 64 DS? i've got that one!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 27 March 2006 17:38 (twenty years ago)

Pikmin is/was fun! While not a lot of replay value in it for me (plus, the time constraint thing at times gave me panic attacks because, in spite of my Klingon bluster, I am a pushover), it was generally relaxing. Totally and typically wonky Nintendo character design.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 27 March 2006 18:31 (twenty years ago)

I'd love Mario 64 ds s1ocks. Anything worth tradin' for in my pile?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 March 2006 19:20 (twenty years ago)

Hmm... as I don't have either of those systems, we are not looking so good for that! sorry dude!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 27 March 2006 19:25 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki, I don't have Mario 64 DS, but I did play the N64 version. Is it the same game?

Laura H. (laurah), Monday, 27 March 2006 20:24 (twenty years ago)

no!

(actually, yes... pretty much. with touch-screen mini-games included! but that's probably not enough to make you want it!)

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:00 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki, do you have any interest in PC gaming? I might have some PC games worth the hassle. Or PS1, for that matter.

(this post started by me typing "Do you have a computer?" before I realized where I was.)

xpost METROID PRIME for PS2?!?!?!?
I'm being a dick.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:07 (twenty years ago)

It's a possibility. Tell me what else you have when you get home though. xpost

Laura H. (laurah), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

ok for sure... i used to have a bunch of the GBA marios, and i still have mario golf around. although i may have given many of these games to a baby.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:26 (twenty years ago)

You don't have GTA:SA or Shadow of the Colossus do you? Alternately, a GBA Mario could be good...

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:29 (twenty years ago)

Did I not sell Pikmin well enough?

Forks, how about the Soul Calibur for Harvest Moon?

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:39 (twenty years ago)

I would do that happily. Email me @ address below and let's set it up.
TEST CASE!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:49 (twenty years ago)

No, I might lend for Pikmin... but you haven't told me what you want from my list! xpost

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:53 (twenty years ago)

Oh huh!

Is your Katamari the one that people like? I still haven't played it. And would I need a mod chip to play it, since it's Japanese?

That, Animal Xing, and the slutted up FFX girls caught my eye.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 02:59 (twenty years ago)

Yes, my version of Katamari is Japanese. The sequel, We Love Katamari, is arguably better. Animal Crossing and FFX-2 are both great lightweight fun.

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 07:51 (twenty years ago)

so laura i realized last night that the games i didn't give to a baby i gave to a friend last year while he was in chemo! so i have none left save fire emblem and mario golf and i'm not sure i'm ready to let go of either!

so really, all i gots to offer is smb64ds... no worries if you don't want it.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 16:07 (twenty years ago)

Wait a sec, something occurs to me--are we talking about temporary or permanent swapping? This seems like an important point to clarify.

Either way, Leee, I'd be down for a Pikmin/FFX-2 trade. E-mail me!

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:07 (twenty years ago)

i am speaking about either! i don't really care either way!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:20 (twenty years ago)

I'm figuring it's a perma swap. Once that stuff's outta my hands, I consider it gone.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 23:10 (twenty years ago)

both katamari games are awesome, what's this "the one people like" business.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 23:20 (twenty years ago)

who said that?

Laura H. (laurah), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 03:00 (twenty years ago)

Me!

c(''c) (Leee), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 04:56 (twenty years ago)

You're right! And no, no one can play it without modding. Although, you won't understand any of the funny shit the King says, so you're probably better served getting the English version.

Laura H. (laurah), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 05:12 (twenty years ago)

Also, s1ocki, I'll lend you Minish Cap for SM64, but only as a temporary trade. I'm sick of it right now, but I think I may end up wanting to have it back. Anyway, email me.

Laura H. (laurah), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 05:27 (twenty years ago)

I got SoulCalibur II! It's fun; I can't seem to quit playing with just one guy, but it's rad. I love the gamecube instaload feature; makes me really want to play. Anybody know whether it's a tighter game on this system or...?
Anyway, lemme know when Harvest arrives.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 1 April 2006 06:34 (twenty years ago)

c(''c): you got the disc?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 17:27 (twenty years ago)

The mail hasn't arrived yet.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 17:50 (twenty years ago)

I got mine! Pikmin is enjoyable.

Leee: The last time I sent something from my ghetto post office, they said it would take 3 days to get from NY to MA, and it ended up taking 10. I'm fairly certain yours should arrive this week, though.

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 18:46 (twenty years ago)

I'm in no rush at all, Laura!

Forks: just checked the mail and voila, as the French would say, eet eez 'ere!

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 19:12 (twenty years ago)

Forksclovetofu -- Excellent trader!!! Very fast shipment!! Would do business again in the future, A++++++!

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 21:30 (twenty years ago)

Ditto on that point. We're golden here folks.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 4 April 2006 22:42 (twenty years ago)

Laura, I'd like to reserve those Metroid Game Boy games. Anything on list above worthwhile?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 01:43 (twenty years ago)

Laura, got it today! Pop tart RPG action!

Laura H. -- Excellent trader!!! Very fast shipment!! Would do business again in the future, A++++++!

c(''c) (Leee), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 19:48 (twenty years ago)

Hooray, glad to hear it. Pikmin hasn't got me throwing controllers yet, but it's pretty close. It's too cute and addictive to stay mad at, though.

Laura H. (laurah), Thursday, 6 April 2006 05:57 (twenty years ago)

S1ocki, you sure I can't talk you out of Fire Emblem for Minish Cap?

And Forks, I'm almost done with Metroid: Fusion, and I'd be willing to trade for Xenosaga if you find that acceptable.

Laura H. (laurah), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 13:56 (twenty years ago)

ok laura let's do it! e-me!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 14:42 (twenty years ago)

YAY!!!

Laura H. (laurah), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 14:45 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I'm totally down with that.
Email me and let's roll.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 21:52 (twenty years ago)

I should post a list here! I have no idea what we have in the house right now that's up for grabs though.

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 23:41 (twenty years ago)

I'm still not quite done with it... I'll try to wrap it up by the end of the weekend. xpost

Laura H. (laurah), Thursday, 20 April 2006 05:48 (twenty years ago)

All right--finally finished Metroid: Fusion, ready for swap.

Laura H. (laurah), Monday, 24 April 2006 17:03 (twenty years ago)

Hey, um, anyone want Harvest Moon?

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 24 April 2006 17:34 (twenty years ago)

Anybody have any PSP games to trade?

antexit (antexit), Monday, 24 April 2006 18:07 (twenty years ago)

Whoa, Harvest Moon went down that poorly?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 24 April 2006 18:15 (twenty years ago)

I'm lazy and I don't want to do virtual chores. But otherwise, it's a cool RPG!

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 24 April 2006 18:25 (twenty years ago)

I WILL TRADE U SIMS 4 PSP

JW (ex machina), Monday, 24 April 2006 18:29 (twenty years ago)

c(''c) (Leee), Wednesday, 26 April 2006 22:14 (twenty years ago)

ahh damn. i still don't have a cube.

sleep (sleep), Wednesday, 26 April 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
Laura did I lose you here?

Sleepy, I'd like a shot at SMB 64 to go with the NEW SMB; anything on my list above that piques interest?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 15:51 (twenty years ago)

forx i might be interested... you don't have paper mario do ya?

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 17:37 (twenty years ago)

Parappa 1 was fun. Trade Mario 64 DS for Parappa 2?

sleep (sleep), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Sorry no paper mario. I feel your pain.

And yes, Parappa 2 is just as good as 1 and I'd be down for that one.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 19:23 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, life momentarily distracted me. I will e-mail.

Also: Fire Emblem received. :)

Laurah (laurah), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 02:40 (twenty years ago)

you didn't JUST get it, did you?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 03:27 (twenty years ago)

Just got SMDS, thanks Sleep!
Yer check is in the mail.

Laura? Hello?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 26 May 2006 19:00 (twenty years ago)

I might have to cancel on this. My life is too insane right now to deal with game swapping. And believe me, I'm aware of how pathetic that sounds.

Laurah (laurah), Sunday, 28 May 2006 15:15 (twenty years ago)

And no, s1ocki, I definitely got it significantly before I posted. :)

Laurah (laurah), Sunday, 28 May 2006 15:16 (twenty years ago)

ok phew! i was worried it had taken a month! are you enjoying it?

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 28 May 2006 15:33 (twenty years ago)

all good. Let me know if you change mind and such.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 28 May 2006 16:58 (twenty years ago)

I haven't gotten to it yet, I'm ashamed to say. NSMB is eating what remains of my life!

Laurah (laurah), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 01:40 (twenty years ago)

PS2 >> Anyone have ResEvil4 or the new Tomb Raider that wants Shadow of the Colossus?

def zep (calstars), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 11:09 (twenty years ago)

I got Parappa 2 last week, thanks forks

sleep (sleep), Friday, 2 June 2006 13:24 (twenty years ago)

You enjoying? I haven't cracked SMB64...

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 2 June 2006 15:24 (twenty years ago)

Same here - I'm about to move so it's packed in a box someplace.

sleep (sleep), Friday, 2 June 2006 16:53 (twenty years ago)
