River City Ransom is a piece of my heart - you know what kingfish sez about ICO and Sigur Ros? RCR + Technotronic = infinity times more special to me. I used to turn the TV volume on mute and just play my Technotronic tape through the boombox right in front of the console and play and play and play. Fantastic.
RCR has the distinction of being the ONLY game where I didn't get bored collecting money and stats to beat the bad guys; just run back and forth bashing up frat boys and generic dudes until the kick was right.

One of the bad things about this game was that upon first play-thru, you couldn't tell if you were supposed to go up or right.
Distinguishing between actual and painted-on backgrounds wasn't the game's best feature.

this is stone-cold classic... playing this emulated on nesds for the first time ever and it's held up surprisingly well! great dialog and rpg-lite stylings, great sprites... everything, really

i've got my fingers crossed for some kind of us version of the recent hanabi festival where ninty will release river city ransom, earthbound, mario rpg and dragon quest. (speaking of the hanabi festival, did anyone get sin and punishment? 1500 wii points seemed a bit steep, have i missed out?)
