Remember the wierdass "Grow" game internet fad a couple years ago where you drag items onto a sphere? Well, now there's a new one, for a cube!

kingfish superman ice cream (kingfish 2.0), Saturday, 24 September 2005 01:23 (twenty years ago)

HEY I JUST GREW A BLACK CHOCOBO.HOP YOU DONT MIND.

rio natsume, Saturday, 24 September 2005 02:39 (twenty years ago)

Woo, I just finished this one! I'd never done one of them by myself until today, so I'm rather proud of myself. Although, I've been playing it on and off since lunchtime.

melton mowbray (adr), Saturday, 24 September 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

I am finally finished the roleplaying one. Took me about 15 tries because i could never get the rocks to level up. Yay me.

jeffrey (johnson), Saturday, 24 September 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

this the most beautiful thing i've ever seen

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 30 September 2005 13:05 (twenty years ago)

YES did it! that is gorgeous.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 30 September 2005 14:09 (twenty years ago)

Grow cube is friggin hard. I still haven't gotten it, though seeing the fossil turn into a giant turtle was very nice indeed.

pr00de, where's my car? (pr00de), Friday, 30 September 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

It's amazing isn't it? Those games have the best payoffs ever!

If anyone's thinking of taking this to the "I give up" thread, I'm sure I've got my workings out written down somewhere.

melton mowbray (adr), Friday, 30 September 2005 18:50 (twenty years ago)

Okay, just got it.

pr00de, where's my car? (pr00de), Friday, 30 September 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

grow cube is fine, it's original flavour grow I can't work out.

I love the other games on eyezmaze as well - they're so pretty and cute and fun to work out!

spontine (cis), Friday, 30 September 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

Grow Sphere actually has several combinations that solve it.

this blog entry has one and there are more in comments.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Friday, 30 September 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

And of course, the sphere has 12 options, so there are 479,001,600 possible orders to go in, instead of merely 3,628,800 as with the cube's 10.

Grow Christmas

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Sunday, 18 December 2005 07:02 (twenty years ago)

OMG, thankyou so much. I'm think I'm going to do this tonight. Is it still as laborious and seemingly illogical as the old ones? I think that's what I love about them so much, and what makes me be able to spend a whole night on them.

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 18 December 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Well, with only six options, I figured it out pretty quickly. The best part is the way the Christmas tree has devil horns, although the cyclops angel is pretty good, too.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Sunday, 18 December 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, I got the Grow Xmas in 3 tries. It does have way fewer options, admittedly. Maybe we'll see a Grow Halloween next year, I like the seasonal thing.

Laura H. (laurah), Sunday, 18 December 2005 18:01 (twenty years ago)

Merry Xmas! I love you.

!

melton mowbray (adr), Sunday, 18 December 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

I'm not sure I feel comfortable with being on "I love you" terms with Santa.

Laura H. (laurah), Sunday, 18 December 2005 20:15 (twenty years ago)

How great is Grow RPG?

remy (x Jeremy), Sunday, 18 December 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Brilliant! This is the only one I've solved without cheating.

robster (robster), Monday, 19 December 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

i really didn't understand these.

snowkitten (g-kit), Monday, 19 December 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

Basically you just have to choose different items in different orders. The order in which you choose the items causes them to have different effects on each other (some logical, some completely not), and you essentially try different configurations until you get max levels on everything. There are a lot of cute animations along the way so you don't mind that it's a little grindy.

Laura H. (laurah), Monday, 19 December 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i understand the concept completely. i just didn't .... get it.

snowkitten (g-kit), Monday, 19 December 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

what a weird... thing.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 19 December 2005 21:17 (twenty years ago)

strangely fascinating.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 19 December 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

shit

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 19 December 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

i had a drunk dream about this this morning

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 19:26 (twenty years ago)

do tell

kingfish holiday travesty (kingfish 2.0), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

it was a confused dream about trying to solve one of them. not particularly interesting in and of itself i'm afraid!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

shucks.

kingfish holiday travesty (kingfish 2.0), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

I finally got so bored at work I finished off the RPG one.
I like how it ends with that really long animation that makes you feel so stupid for ever playing any RPG ever. What the hell.

This one is hard! My high score is 25, and I can't remember how I got to it.

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 21 May 2006 17:36 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I fucked off and found a walkthrough before long (something I've never done before with one of On's puzzles.) It didn't seem very logical to me.

Keywords: revenge, knife, granddaughter, demonic-possession, rock-star, eel (Aus, Sunday, 21 May 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

I've given up on that one and have been spending the last hour on a Sim City-style one: http://jayisgames.com/archives/2006/03/cityscape.php

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 21 May 2006 19:01 (twenty years ago)

I managed 35 points before my computer spontaneously restarted. What was supposed to be in the second bottle?

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Sunday, 21 May 2006 19:13 (twenty years ago)

I have 55. Sumbitch pot won't cook! What the fudge!

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 21 May 2006 19:27 (twenty years ago)

SPOILERs

Ok, I figured out how to hatch that ugly-yet-vain creature, but I can't get the clock to spit out the key again.

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 21 May 2006 22:46 (twenty years ago)

I cheatered.

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 21 May 2006 23:50 (twenty years ago)

This is brutal!

I managed to finish RPG and cube for the first time though. Cube's payoff is AMAZING

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Monday, 22 May 2006 01:31 (twenty years ago)

I also gave up and cheated.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 22 May 2006 03:37 (twenty years ago)

where is the walkthrough? I can't find anything on Google.

A. Lingbert (A. Lingbert), Monday, 22 May 2006 06:54 (twenty years ago)

It's at http://jayisgames.com/archives/2006/05/chronon.php#comment-47500 , but don't scroll! It's the Spoiler link underneath "How I got where I am".

melton mowbray's APOCALYPTO! (adr), Monday, 22 May 2006 07:12 (twenty years ago)

thank you sir

A. Lingbert (A. Lingbert), Monday, 22 May 2006 07:38 (twenty years ago)

This new one is really hard, I can't get anywhere with it. I loved the Cube one though, and the RPG.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 22 May 2006 07:48 (twenty years ago)

I got to 55 pts then I had to cheat. I missed the clock tail.

a.b. (alanbanana), Monday, 22 May 2006 07:54 (twenty years ago)

Imposs. Can't do it EVEN WITH SPOILERS :( My shame...

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Monday, 22 May 2006 10:29 (twenty years ago)

I'm still wondering what clues there are in the game that tell you to hang the clock @ 12:55 and THEN go back to 6:15 or whatever.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 22 May 2006 13:28 (twenty years ago)

yeah it seems to make no sense, unless i'm missing something blatantly obvious (which is quite possible really).

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 22 May 2006 14:52 (twenty years ago)

The bouncing back and forth in time is EXACTLY what made no sense to me in this puzzle. If that had been left out, I probably would have had the patience to solve it.

Keywords: revenge, knife, granddaughter, demonic-possession, rock-star, eel (Aus, Tuesday, 23 May 2006 02:25 (twenty years ago)

Damn these smart peepul maken me feel bad. I is smart. I IS SMART!!!

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 10:48 (twenty years ago)

This new one eats balls.

Dan (Stupid) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 13:38 (twenty years ago)

Kev, the people who figured it out aren't so much smart as they are in need of lives. [Disclaimer: kettle/pot/black]

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Grow Cube is AWESOME when you get it :)

It takes me so much willpower not to cheat on those things, though. BUT I GOT THE CUBE ALL BY MYSELF. If you have no willpower, email me I guess, I wrote thme down :)

:D

that was pretty easy though

ferzaffe (flezaffe), Thursday, 3 August 2006 20:25 (nineteen years ago)

Yep. But charmin'.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 3 August 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

I can't play this because I am at w0rk where I need it most!

c('°c) (Leee), Friday, 4 August 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

The cube is very very cute. I lost patience with the sphere. I bizarrely got the RPG one first time by picking things at random.

I'm sending the cube link to all my friends now; I can't beleive this thing hasn't swept t'internets already.

kv_nol, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

awesome this is the first one I solved on my own. this one has more amusing errors than the others, I think.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 13 September 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)

OMG GROW CUBE U R DRIVIN ME MAAAAAD

jhøshea, Thursday, 13 September 2007 19:06 (eighteen years ago)

I guess I got grow island right my first try. :(

polyphonic, Thursday, 13 September 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

I kinda think these would be more fun if you could undo

El Tomboto, Thursday, 13 September 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

like you could build a gigantic one with all sorts of awesome branching trees of events but nobody would play it if you couldn't at least go back and reverse last x number of steps

El Tomboto, Thursday, 13 September 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

hint for grow island: line of sight is important

abanana, Thursday, 13 September 2007 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

if you beat grow 1 then you unlock undo feature

chaki, Friday, 14 September 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

dammit, does grow island tend to "freeze" for anybody else?

kingfish, Friday, 14 September 2007 02:25 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I noticed that a few times, though it just means that you didn't beat it.

Leee, Friday, 14 September 2007 03:38 (eighteen years ago)

ooh it's been a while since i played the Cube one, so luckily i'll have completely forgotten how i solved it and be able to play it all over again with the same frustration levels.

bah can't play any at work tho stoopid websense system

Ste, Friday, 14 September 2007 08:45 (eighteen years ago)

someone should make one called BRO

s1ocki, Saturday, 15 September 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

holy crap, there's a secret ending.

Do Auto -> Civil -> Arch -> CS -> Elect -> Mech -> Chem -> Env

kingfish, Monday, 17 September 2007 06:08 (eighteen years ago)

damn, I got really close to that on my run through! That's awesome. Why don't regular games have secret endings that cool?

El Tomboto, Monday, 17 September 2007 06:26 (eighteen years ago)

That is fantastic! Well found kingfish.

kv_nol, Monday, 17 September 2007 08:35 (eighteen years ago)

No problem. Alerted to that from another board.

kingfish, Monday, 17 September 2007 10:41 (eighteen years ago)

Why don't regular games have secret endings that cool?

The Silent Hill games have secret UFO endings too.

abanana, Monday, 17 September 2007 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

Is that the one where the guy hooks up his laptop?

Leee, Monday, 17 September 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

CONGRATU-ALIEN-S!

I wonder how many extra hours it took to program the secret ending.
