Zelda: Links Awakening (Gameboy)

Still one of my favourite games of all time, and the one I played the most. It was so long, and quite difficult, made having a gameboy worthwhile.

Also had pretty good music and cutscenes for such a limited format. I spent a fucking eternity trying to kill that motherfucking Giant Eagle on the 7th dungeon.

But I finished this game eventually.

this game was haaaard

I think I gave up at some stage where I was walking around with a thwomp (?) on a leash (??)

yeah the chain chomp! you were supposed to take it into the swamp so it will eat the plants that obstruct the door to the second dungeon.

i started playing this again recenty but gave up at the bit where you have to get the golden feathers for the prince because i couldn't find the last one. i dug for hours.

I loved this one! probably my favorite Zelda game on any system. I never thought it was hard though, probably because when I was playing it at age 14 or whatever I had so much free time to kill and so little opportunity to do anything else enjoyable with my time that whatever effort was required was worth it.

The central conceit was pretty weird though. "It's all a dream; okay, I've heard that one before. Wait, it's all a dream of a giant flying whale!?"

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 24 September 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

why was the flying whale dreaming about Link anyway?

Dan I. (Dan I.), Saturday, 24 September 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

at least it wasn't all the dream of a retarded child

eight years pass...

Should I sell my original grayscale cart w/ box and manual or should I wait 10 more years to go through my boxes of old shit again and rediscover it and recontemplate selling it

Man, this game. I was stuck in the second dungeon for about a year, trying to figure out how to get the boss key. Apparantly, the monsters had to be killed in order.

I'll just play it on an emu I guess in the future, and that way I'd get to play the boss DX version xp

I played this game constantly as a kid. The eShop version is tempting. Though I also never got around to Oracle of Seasons.
