ILX crushes are just a bad idea in general. I mean, it's one thing to crash and burn with a crush that no one else knows, and quite another thing to crash and burn in public.

I mean, crushes usually go something like:

Kate: Hi, I actually, erm, am kind of attracted to you
Crushee: Erm, oh no, I don't think of you that way... BURN THE WITCH, BURN THE WITCH, HELP!!!
Kate: Oh no, I'll just whinge about it on ILX

while ILX crushes go more along the lines of...

Kate: Hi, I actually, erm, am kind of attracted to you
Crushee: Erm, oh no, I don't think of you that way... BURN THE WITCH, BURN THE WITCH, HELP!!! OH NO!!!
ILX: POINT AND LAUGH!!!!!! POINT AND LAUGH!!!!!

Anyway, why did I get caught back up in all this neurosis after having such a good day at Crystal Palace. We should have a FAP there.

Crystal Palace is the weirdest place in South London, which is saying a lot! I love it, it's my new favourite place. I'm not sure if it's more like a failed Dr. Who set or what, but... erm... isn't there a thread about Crystal Palace? I think there might be, coz that's where Stevem's lions are.

ILX crushes are just a bad idea in general

not necess. but i think talking about them (and having so many to talk about!) ON ILX probably is because of how it could turn out. some people have got together via ILX and it's worked out well (even if they didn't stay together) but i'm not sure how many of those people were actively (desperately?) seeking someone and identified something like ILX as the best means of finding it (i would say it's not a good means at all but there's evidence to the contrary ;) - it didn't really come about because of what you could call a definitive 'crush' tho). so sure ilx is a viable channel, but far from the only one out there. you might as well moan about never meeting someone in a certain pub even tho you've seen other people hook up there (and not because they arranged to meet there on an interweb msg board).

Bloody hell, the search is taking forever (server is too busy) so I can't find if there is already a thread about Crystal Palace. There was a sign on the gate for some art festival that I couldn't find, but then realised that it closed in October and no one had bothered to take the sign down.

It's like a monument to a ruined age. Definitely a Dr. Who vibe going on, like some decayed ruin of a civilisation which is crumbling to dust, nothing but decapitated statues, but with this vast spire of a beacon sticking out of one end... I love it!

Argh, all the CP threads seem to be football threads, yuck. I could have *sworn* there was one about the park. People were talking about dinosaurs.

As to the crush stuff... to be honest, I never really *ever* conceived of ILX as any kind of pulling party. The thought never really crossed my mind until all my friends started hooking up. And then I just started feeling a bit left out, that's all.

The few times that I have actually been unfortunate enough to *have* ILX crushes, it's invariably worked out disasterously. And yes, I do think that ILX was a factor in the disasterousness of it for me, because I do talk at great length about my emotions and experiences here, for good or bad. Which is probably understandably off-putting.

And yes, I am just thinking about this too much at the moment because I do have a sort of crush on a (former at least) ILX0r and am actually terrified to really do anything about it.

Anyway... back to talking about ruined Victorian monuments.
