Seconded! I'd take another Tied + Tickled Trio album first, though, since I've listened to like 1000000x more than Neon Golden (if I knew where it was, though, I might listen to it more).

PEEPING TOM ALBUM TO SEE LIGHT OF FUCKING DAY - 2005

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 16:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Shirokuma's "Secret Moves at the Midnight Chess Club" should be out soonish in the new year, even though I mixed it 18 months ago and expected it to be out about a year ago. Yay "development".

National Forest has a newey nearly done from what I hear. Can't wait.

And, of course, MY FUCKING ALBUM! There's another mini on the way first and maybe a couple of other delights too.

Bernard the Butler (Lynskey), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope to be, any dates set? The earlier in the month, the more likely I am to be around. It would be great to meet you, Ned.

:-) At this point, earlier is definitely the case -- my general plan is to celebrate the July 4th holiday here (what can I say, I like me my fireworks, turn baby turn, burn baby burn), and then head out shortly thereafter. Looking at a calendar...4th's a Monday, hm. My plan is for three weeks, starting in London for at least a couple of days (Italy is where I'll be spending two weeks) so I'm thinking I might well head out on the 7th. Set aside that weekend of the 8th through 10th if you can!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Circulatory System, Malk, Billy Corgan...what else. Nine Inch Nails, Zack de la Rocha, Fiery Furnaces, Tapeworm (if it actually comes out).

Chemical Brothers

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard from someone who has heard said Chemicals album -- while not perfect apparently it's much better than what "The Golden Path" would have indicated.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Sun Kil Moon seconded. Or anything by Kozelek, for that matter.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Wednesday, 17 November 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm holding out for a new Cardiacs studio album. It's been five years now! Failing that, when are they ever going to release any of those live recordings they make each year?

There's bound to be something new from Belle and Sebastian too.

Btw, as far as I can tell, they've removed the pic of them from the home page of the music70 website, as well as denied user access to their images folder, in the last week or so. Hmm..

JoB (JoB), Thursday, 18 November 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Keren Ann not indicative of My Name Is's other choices... it's dark and pretty piano pop.

Darin - saw Built to Spill at All Tomorrow's Parties last weekend and they played an entire set of new songs, all of which sounded excellent (with one Halo Benders tune thrown in)... so add me to the Built to Spill list, too.

Unlike most of the other ILM members, I am certainly anticipating new releases from Travis and Coldplay in the same year, definitely settling who's the biggest name. :-)

People, people. Most of you just don't get it. I've long since decided New Order are my favourite band ever, but Kate Bush absolutely OWNZ THIS THREAD. It's only been 12 YEARS since we last heard from her!!!!!!!!! (perhaps she decided that 13 would be bad luck?)

Suddenly today the thought of a new Kate album really began to settle into my brain...I immediately decided that if this really really DID come to pass after all this time, I fear I would be seized with an uncontrollable and not even particularly sexual need to kiss the soles of her bare feet. Even if it's crap. Which it might be. To quote Billy above:

No doubt it'll be dreary rubbish, but I live in hope.

But still I fear this potential urge to kiss the soles of her feet. I may need therapy by the time 2005 ends.

Bimble (bimble), Friday, 19 November 2004 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

And Roll Deep definately have album do they? Are Wiley and Dizzee on it?

Roll Deep have an album, though from what I have gathered (there are better folk for this info on here) Dizzee isn't on it, but Wiley is in charge of the production.

Please correct me if I am wrong, myke / other grime people.

5 more:

The Young Gods are releasing a new album.

Goldfrapp new album in Summer 2005.

A new Simple Minds album is on the way - apparently one track is similar to Empires and Dance.

Will Zan Lyons get his act together and release a new album.

Laurent Garnier has a new album: The Cloud Making Machine

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 25 November 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

A new Goldfrapp album is a good idea! I have a suspicion that Black Cherry (which I loved and which definitely felt like a decisive statement) will turn out to be a transitional album, but a transition to what?

latest Goldfrapp news: http://www.blazinvibes.com/NewsSub.jsp?ID=1825

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 25 November 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

There's so many directions that Goldfrapp could go in that wouldn't be huge jumps but which would be very satisfying. Eg. the way the live cover version of "Physical" unites their atmospheric melancholy side with their physical electro-pop side, or the way their cover of "Yes Sir I Can Boogie" goes for this distracted art-disco groove that sounds like whatever Madonna was hoping "Music" would actually sound like. Or the way the "We Are Glitter Mix" of "Strict Machine" revels in crunchy rock pyrotechnics. etc etc etc

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 25 November 2004 23:28 (twenty-one years ago)

the two new bright eyes albums

and seriously, fuck pitchfork's recent articles involving Bright eyes. perhaps the music has grown too important to me, perhaps those that write for pitchfork are so cool that their hipster psuedo-hearts have frozen over and only interpol can melt them.

i know im going to catch hell for this, and i dont care.

I'm glad you don't use the same supermarket as me and Kate - I'm really not sure the staff of Sainsburys would know how to deal with one of their customers attempting to forecably kiss the soles of one of the other customers bare feet against her will while she was waiting patiently in the queue at the bakery counter to get a small unsliced granary loaf.

The still as-yet-unnamed Les Claypool/Adrian Belew/Danny Carey project. Summer 05. I'm not that big a fan of lots of Claypool's colabo stuff, but I think this thingy will be actually worthy of all the praise Claypool freaks lumped onto mediocre-ass Oysterhead. Maybe because A) ADRIAN BELEW, B) they worked on writing/recording this for awhile [whereas Oysterhead was slapped together as all hell], and C) ADRIAN BELEW.

"Dolly Mixture CD... well yes, don't I wish I had a spare box of them. For anyone thinking of forking out fifty, sixty, or seventy quid for one, DON'T! unless you really can't wait. I know they are going to release their whole back catalogue at some point, in the next year or so."

There have been ongoing discussions with several labels, but I don't think the Dolly Mixture trio have decided when and how to re-release their stuff.

Personally, I'd like to see not only a reissue of Demonstration Tapes, but also a reissue that ties up their four 7"s, The Fireside EP, the Dreamism! demo tracks, and the amazing unreleased tracks (demos and radio sessions) that I know are floating around. You could fit all that on one CD.

Does anyone know anything about this French bloke: Jackson

COCADISCO + very special guestS: JACKSON + CHRIS CUNNINGHAM
Thurs 13th Jan

WoW, this is an amazing start to 2005 at Cocadisco - two remarkable talents playing incredible music. Jackson is a handsome 25-year-old producer from Paris who’ll be a household name this time next year. His debut album is already being described by those lucky enough to have heard it as the next step for electronic music. It’s a beautiful, soulful, fucked-up masterpiece that scrunches Aphex into Hendrix, Boards of Canada into Bowie and beyond, and is the freshest, heaviest long-player you can’t even begin to imagine.
Well, you can if you heard his genius ‘Utopia’ EP from 2003’. But now it’s even better.
Acclaimed film director Chris Cunningham promises to play rare rave and soundtracks and whatever he fancies. That’s fine. He’s got great taste. This year he’ll be particularly productive. Look out for some scary shit from him soon. Really, you’d have be insane to miss this party.

Cocadisco is Vice magazine’s free monthly party at The Social (5 Little Portland Street, London, W1; nearest tube: Oxford Circus) and happens on the second Thursday of each month. Past guests include Brooks, Richard X, DJ Benetti, DMX Krew, Russell Haswell, Aphex Twin, Marco Passarani, Manny Zambrano, Luke Eargoggle, Ceephax Acid Crew, Midnight Mike, Nathan G. Wilkins, Erol Alkan, Zeus and Maxxi. Cocadisco runs from 7pm-midnight. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

For future reference, Cocadisco’s winter 2005 season looks like this:
Thursday, January 13 – JACKSON + CHRIS CUNNINGHAM
Thursday, February 11 - SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO
Thursday, March 10 - Second birthday party with DJ BENETTI!

DJ Martian (djmartian), Monday, 10 January 2005 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe this Jackson dude in 2005 will be what Junior Boys was in 2004 - the ILM newbie fave? i.e releasing a debut album that is championed on ILM before the established press/ webzines get round to it.

two weeks pass...
holy moley you guys, GARBAGE has a new one coming out!!

reo, Tuesday, 1 February 2005 07:41 (twenty-one years ago)

well finally heard a new dntel song... postal service (and yes i do like them) has not spoiled the dntel sound. thanks, jimmy. and actually the lyrics are the kind of modest and earnest things that are difficult to pull of without being twee or precious, and he does pretty well. he sung on this one... though i suspect haters will jump all over the album because of the conor oberst track.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Sunday, 13 February 2005 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

what was the name of the dntel?

jergins (jergins), Sunday, 13 February 2005 04:48 (twenty-one years ago)

the track is called 'dumb luck' and it's from the upcoming album tentatively titled 'just like heaven'... if you are trying to slsk it or something and can't find it, just let me know on the gmail thread and next time i go to my car i'll grab it and put it on my computer.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Sunday, 13 February 2005 04:58 (twenty-one years ago)

firstworldman, I'd really love to hear the new DNTEL! My gmail address is [email protected] if you want to / are generous enough to send it.

Salvador Saca (Mr. Xolotl), Sunday, 13 February 2005 06:01 (twenty-one years ago)

new clientele album scheduled for release mid to late 2005, according to their web site. i wonder if it will include "step into the light" from the track and field compilation.

youn, Sunday, 13 February 2005 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i just offered on the gmail thread, but i figured i'd revive this because i brought it up here first. i have the new dntel track that i offered to send out up above if anyone is interested. and i am about to send it to you, sal and jergins.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh yeah, that Radiohead band.
-- billstevejim

OK, I'll bite. Last I heard they weren't doing anything? Also someone said in an interview that they were considering not doing any more full-lengths for a variety of reasons (the pressure from peoples' expectations was mentioned).

sleep (sleep), Tuesday, 15 February 2005 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

incidentally, the hood, wedding present and milky wimpshake mentioned upthread are all just as good as was hoped. hurrah / yaaay

Napalm death album in april, too. heard 1 track from it it kills.

miccio (miccio), Friday, 3 June 2005 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

The Eno was a bit anticlimactic, wasn't it? "This" gave me hope, but the rest of the album is hardly poppy at all.

Patrick South (Patrick South), Friday, 3 June 2005 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

The Strokes - My Vagina Tastes Funny

Seu Jorge - Cru

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Friday, 3 June 2005 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 3 June 2005 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

0=0's album is what I am eagerly awaiting.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 3 June 2005 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

The Shortwave Set - The Debt Collection (as in a genuine CD)
Goldfrapp (b/c I'm curious. Popjustice can talk a lot of shit, but if it's better than Black Cherry, then I am interested)
JC Chasez. He can so top Schizophrenic. So he must do so while winning over the rest of the planet.
Kiley Dean - everything I've heard points to this being Timbaland's most techno/electro-referencing r'n'b record in some time, while KD still possesses the voice of a Southern angel.

Avalanches is looking less and less likely this year although they're supposedly "in the studio".

Very excited about the New Order DVD (FINALLY), and I've sort of decided that it's the "last DVD I will ever purchase".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 19 August 2005 00:08 (twenty years ago)

i'm off dvd-buying too!! i think it is a scam!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 19 August 2005 00:22 (twenty years ago)

or at least not something that makes sense for me.

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 19 August 2005 00:23 (twenty years ago)

For me (right now), I can't wait for the new Neil Diamond/Rick Rubin album in November. There's no doubt it's going to be fantastic.

van der who (van smack), Friday, 19 August 2005 02:43 (twenty years ago)

When is the Chelonis album out?

T. Weiss (Timmy), Friday, 19 August 2005 03:17 (twenty years ago)

Twin Cinema is out today, and Best Buy has it for $9.99. I couldn't find the other thread that we talked about it.

nickn (nickn), Monday, 22 August 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

keith m (keithmcl), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

Safety Scissors - Tainted Lunch

Curt (cgould), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 01:39 (twenty years ago)

outkast?
did i miss an announcement?
anybody got a release date?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 03:13 (twenty years ago)

OH SHIT these next two months will be TIGHT! Everything I want is coming out on two days, with one exception.

October 6th - Black Dice "Broken Ear Record"

I've never heard them, but from the ILM conversation surrounding this record I think I'll like it.

October 13th - Coco Rosie "Noah's Ark"
Devendra Banhart "Cripple Crow"
Iron & Wine and Calexico "In the Reins"
OOIOO - Gold & Green
Wooden Wand & Vanishing Voice - Buck Dharma

Holy shit this day will be bad for my wallet! The CocoRosie and Banhart albums are an absolute must for me. IW/C I can probably do without... I don't really throw on the two albums I have of his later. Does anybody know anything about the OOIOO? I haven't really seen it mentioned on ILM yet. Do I need this? What about WWVV?

October 18th - Animal Collective - Feels
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Espers - The Weed Tree
Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain
Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers

All of these are going to be essential!

God I hope I get some good tips in the next few months.

Mickey (modestmickey), Sunday, 28 August 2005 14:58 (twenty years ago)

I just noticed this on Insound's upcoming release list:
11/15 EDITH FROST - it's a game (drag city)

Also, I see where this one's showing up again:
10/10 MAHOGANY - connectivity (darla)

Finally, does anybody know what this is about?
10/04 FIRE ENGINES - codex teenage premontion (domino)
Reunion? Another comp, & if so, how is it different from Fond? Google returns only the Insound page, nothing on Domino's site.
