ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Damn, Carcass' Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious came out in 1991. I'll have to think of something else. The Swirlies?

scott seward (scott seward), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 23:48 (twenty-one years ago)

CHICKENBREASTBLISS (johnny z), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Even teh JACK COLE agrees with ME

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i can name that album for 1992 here, roy -- i can't throw the hobbit a bone.

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:35 (twenty-one years ago)

also, swirlies tres blah.

jack cole (jackcole), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to see swirlies at the sports bar in danbury with madder rose and trumans water and lilies and archers of loaf. sunday nite was alternative nite. but bunnybrains were always better than those other doodz cuz brains had shake appeal. plus they made the football doodz scared of us.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 01:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Also:

R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
The Sproton Layer - With Magnetic Fields Disrupted

Slanted and Enchanted is OK. I liked Pukement better as a singles and EPs band.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

REM = SO NOT NOISE CORNY INDIE FUCK!

brock (brock), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 03:09 (twenty-one years ago)

We never wrote the reasons that I need explained
Some things are givens and others get away
This time, it's for myself; you call it what you may
Okay

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, that Sproton Layer is an issue of like 1970s recordings. That doesn't count. I got one for ya, let's see if you pansies can handle it:

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 03:36 (twenty-one years ago)

AIC were one of my fave bands circa 7th grade.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

i listened to that Dirt record this past Friday night actually .. I think it still holds up well. Really fuckin' dark, depressing record. Yeah, the whole "heroin" theme is pretty cheesy and tired .. but then, you know, he wasn't lying either. Dude had a serious problem.

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

i listened to that record quite a bit that year. i was workin construction after school and classic rock etc seemed to go over well with the duderz.

msp (msp), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

1992, I was down with the whole sass jordan, brother cane, jackyl, big head todd & the monsters posse. Youknowwhatimean? we would hang out down by the tracks and make fun of people going into cumberland farms and get high on bathtub meth. wait, that wasn't me.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 10:26 (twenty-one years ago)

WE HAVE TAKEN A WRONG TURN SOMEWHERE LADS.

ddb (ddb), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

did shaggy sing that scott?

brock (brock), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

so... are the swirlies still on the top?

nostalgia be damned! i like the sebadoh entry the most so far. slanted and enchanted was good tho.

hehe... ministry "psalm 69"
faith no more "angel dust"
the mudhoney record was okay that year... not egbdf tho.

stereolab "peng!"

jesu... i'm about to say that 1991 was a much better year after tarting through allmusic.com....

afghan whigs "congregation"... mudhoney "egbdf"... mbv "loveless"...lungfish "talking songs for walking".. fugazi "steady diet"... "trompe le monde" by the pixies .. .thinking fellers "lovelyville"

oh wait... 1992... unrest "imperial ffrr" ... thinking fellers "mother of all saints"

m.

msp (msp), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

oh... 1991... a tribe called quest "low end theory".
m.

msp (msp), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, but answer for 1992... eric b and rakim "don't sweat the technique"...

oh but 1991... de la soul is dead ...

eh, anyhow ... where's the noise?

m.

msp (msp), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 12:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i used to see them live all of the time. i still have a limited giveaway cassette somewhere. Raspberry Bang was their first band, a go-go's cover band

kephm (kephm), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

BTAB was 93 tho, wasn't it?

kephm (kephm), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

MASTA THREAD KILLA

kephm (kephm), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Faith No More Angel Dust is the correct answer.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

As is Morphine Good.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Also: Tom Waits Bone Machine.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

OK NICK U WIN. NOT BECUASE IT'S A GOOD RECORD (IT ISNT).
BUT ARGUING WITH A PATTON/BUNGLE/ZORN FAN IS LIKE ARGUING WITH THE WIND.

DEEBZ (ddb), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

which is worse to argue with?

PATTON/BUNGLE/ZORN FAN or LES CLAYPOOL FAN?

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

TEH FORMER

DEEBZ (ddb), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

JUST MENTION OYSTERHEAD AND SAID CLAYPOOL FAN HAS NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO RETURN TO HIS CAVE/MOTHERS BASEMENT.

DEEBZ (ddb), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Ween's Pure Guava is another outstanding 1992 album.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

YUO GHUYS ARE MEE ASSHOLSES

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I MEANTED TO TYPE MEEN

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I am a Patton fan and a Bungle fan and a Zorn fan (and a Claypool fan [who happens to have a bootleg of a live performance featuring both MIKE PATTON and LES CLAYPOOL]) but I am fully aware of their shortcomings.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Also: Mike Patton & Zorn make NOIZE with Eye from Boredoms = THEY ARE TEH NOIZE.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

i didnt mean to be mean to you, nick. i was thinking of a rabid claypool fan at work.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

ha ha I R TEH PLAY

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

99% of Claypool fans are male virgins over 30.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i just wanted to make sure, bucko. me not know your limits, etc.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Also good in 1992: Praxis Transmutation!!!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:42 (twenty-one years ago)

We would listen to it while we played D&D.

(nick r L7 loser)

TEH WIND.

DEEBZ (ddb), Thursday, 30 September 2004 19:00 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah... we gotta lot of mileage outta angeldust and primus back in the day.

i haven't really kept up with primus since like pork soda times.

i dunno. that muzak is good, but much of the endless claypool/zorn/patton stuff gets way iffy on occasion. at least they're out there fudging around in their own unique ways.

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 1 October 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i got given a yellow card on this thread! i wonder who it was. perhaps, the content of my posts was offensive and inappropriate. maybe i even crossed a boundary, there must be delicate sensitivities in the world of the noise dude. perhaps, i should tread more carefully next time.

in that case, let us now return to talk of more 'acceptable' matters, such as the archers of loaf and gas huffer. you may now have your thread back

the great doxology of heckmondwike town (gareth), Friday, 1 October 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

i read lord of the flies, once

the great doxology of heckmondwike town (gareth), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I GAVE YOU A YELLOW CARD BECAUSE YOUR RECORDS SUCK. ALL 9 OF THEM.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:07 (twenty-one years ago)

gareth is trying to convince me that you are right about the swirlies, ddb -- and he is making a convincing case for your side.

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

YELLOWCARDS ARE FUN. THEY MAKE BABIES SMILE.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:26 (twenty-one years ago)

the swirlies were good... back in the day i was in a band for one day with the idea that we were gonna be the swirlies + trumans water + the mountain goats.

ha.

msp (msp), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

YIKES.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not equipped for this thread. In 1991 I was listening to the Newsies soundtrack and drawing hearts around Christian Bale.

Holly (an appletross), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

...AND A YELLOWCARD FOR HOLLY!

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

ISNT THIS FUN?!?!?!?

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i feel like godzilla and rodan have been forced to team up against king ghidra

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 1 October 2004 15:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i mean, not to say that the newsies soundtrack wasn't a fine fine piece of musical geius, but alas, so not noise.
I also had little mermaid soundtrack. almost noise.

Holly (an appletross), Friday, 1 October 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i watched aladdin the other day and sang along.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 1 October 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

AND IAN GETS A YELLOWCARD.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Gas Huffer were never that good but the Archers really had a series of great singles in 1992. The only dance music I listened to in 1992 was Mexican and South American.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 1 October 2004 16:37 (twenty-one years ago)

GYGAX AVOIDS YELLOWCARD.

DEEBZ (ddb), Friday, 1 October 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

i went to college with matt wright, gas huffer lead singer, when his band was the Holy Ghost People. what i remember best about him was him procrastinating and then writing 5 papers in two days.

jack cole (jackcole), Friday, 1 October 2004 16:43 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG I can't believe you are actually talking about Gas Huffer.

The Bitter Tears Of Little Lord Travolta (nordicskilla), Friday, 1 October 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ddb (ddb), Friday, 25 February 2005 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

glass bead game wasnt very good, i dont think. but, the singles and minilp prior to that were pretty good

ilkley lido (gareth), Friday, 25 February 2005 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)
