This just baffles me. MTV Europe has released a
Clear Channel-style memo about what and what not to play during the war. A sample:
System of a Down "Boom!" - anti-war video containing facts and figures about, amongst other things, the projected casualties in the war in Iraq.
Aerosmith "Don't want to miss a thing" - contains footage from the film "Armageddon".
Manic Street Preachers "So Why So Sad" - contains footage of soldiers being killed and man throwing a hand grenade.
Passengers/U2 "Miss Sarajevo" - contains missiles, guns and buildings being blown up.
Bon Jovi "This ain't a love song" - contains war scenes and victims in distress.
Iggy Pop "Corruption" - contains wars, riots, guns and captions "we love guns" and "we love rifles".
Paul Hardcastle "19" - contains war footage.
Radiohead "Lucky" - contains war footage including injured children.
Billy Idol "Hot in the City" - contains an atomic explosion.
Armand van Helden "Koochy" - contains an atomic explosion and ships being blown up.
Trick Daddy "Thug Holiday" - contains soldiers being killed at war.
This is offensive to Europe? Because why? Becuase they've never seen war and don't understand its effects? Because they are so pro-war they'll be offended at anti-war statements? How silly. How America-centric. I imagine a lot of Europeans are itching right about now to watch some good anti-war propaganda. And that, MTV, is advertising dollars in the pocket.

i don't mean to sound rude, but this is just bollox
this is one of those absurb internet myths - a list like this always pops up when people talk about war, and its simply worong! i was in italy last week as war broke out and for over a day MTV, literally, played nothing but anti-war songs, with anti war slogans in between. essentially they just played 10 or so songs over again, including 'inmagine', the system of a down one, 'everybody hurts (??)' etc...
so basically that rumour is a load of bollocks. in fact, i've been sent that email a couple of times this week and i've found it increasingly annoying. to me it an example of how yer average michael moore sheep thinks they're clever for critizing mainstream media for not reporting the facts etc. and then believe any crap they re told as long as its on message and reinforces their prejudice that all corporations are evil etc...
and no, i'm not a right wing reactionary, in fact it makes me doubly sad because i think these people are actually doing leftist / liberal causes more harm than good, and its a shame.

Another point here is that there has been wars going on several places in Africa for years and years. Why is it that suddenly a war is becoming a lot more important to people just because those who participate in the war are actually white and belong to the Western culture?
