My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Word Up, no conntest

mottdeterre (mottdeterre), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Word up.

Who's got the covers out? Are they lame ironic P.O.S's?

oops (Oops), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Word Up.
My Prerogative is a Britney cover on the way; who's redoing the Cameo?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Really though, any song whose video features the lead singer in a codpiece is unbeatable.

oops (Oops), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Korn's doing "Word Up," and as awful as you might imagine it could be, it's not.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I am ashamed to be a white person.

Thread battle:
KORN'S NEW SINGLE IS A COVER OF "WORD UP" BY CAMEO WTF
vs
Britney Spears - "My Prerogative"

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 11 October 2004 03:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The Korn thread was funnier, but we had better material to deal with. You don't get more WTF than Korn covering Cameo.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Monday, 11 October 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

dude what are you talking about, this is the whole Korn raison d'etre!

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Monday, 11 October 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Original: Word Up > My Prerogative

Cover version: My Prerogative > Word Up

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Monday, 11 October 2004 04:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Mel B covered "Word Up" years ago!

The video was quite good...

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 11 October 2004 06:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Mel B's "Word Up" - Timbaland's most forgotten single?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 11 October 2004 06:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Tim have you heard "Here We Go," timbo's beat for Pitbull?

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Monday, 11 October 2004 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

word up.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Candy Girl >>>>>>>all this other crap

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Mel B's wordup really sucked, timbo or not.

Most overlooked and unremembered Timbo beat = Mya's "Take Me There" from the Rugrats Movie.
I really LIKE that track!

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:14 (twenty-one years ago)

God the rugrats movie had some killer tunes on it! I loved that "I want a mom that will last forever" Cyndi Lauper one.

Jacob (Jacob), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Mel B's wordup really sucked, timbo or not.

No, it was delightful. It was hugely embarrassing to everyone involved, and I bought the single so nerrr! Funniest bit about it: Mel B's interview around the time "Aww.. Ah loov Timbaland.. heeza beat MAAASTER".

Word Up, anyway. I still say "word up" instead of hello and it puzzles people.

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 11 October 2004 08:09 (twenty-one years ago)

"beat MAAASTER" brings to mind images of the zombie Mel B rampaging all Shaun of the Dead in the studio. Or maybe it would be "eat MAAASTER".

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 11 October 2004 08:18 (twenty-one years ago)

is corn's version as bad as gun's? Word up, but my perogative is brilliant.

lukey (Lukey G), Monday, 11 October 2004 08:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Calling "My Prerogative" funk is a discredit to funk and an undue complement to Bobby Brown.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 11 October 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Korn's doing "Word Up," and as awful as you might imagine it could be, it's not.

this sentence seems to imply both that you have heard the song and haven't.

it's fucking terrible, though maybe half of that is seeing the video. "OMG THER ALL DOGS!!! ROFL! HE PEED ON SOMETHIN'!!!"

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

"my prerogative" was probably the biggest New Jack Swing song ever - and i LOVE Toni Tony Tone - so i was disappointed in the extreme to hear the hear that britney's peeps had surgically excised all "swing" or indeed "new jack" from it (although it can't be denied that this is Her Song at this particular Moment)

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

The Korn video is heedious. The song is great, but I can totally see how anyone would think it sucks in conjunction with the video.

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Monday, 11 October 2004 15:52 (twenty-one years ago)

The cover of "Word Up" is absolutely deplorable. Not that Britney's isn't... it's just, oh Christ, why am I even sinking to discuss this?

maria b (maria b), Monday, 11 October 2004 15:53 (twenty-one years ago)

"My Prerogative" translates really ridiculously well into mock-weepy piano ballad. It is in a minor key, after all.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

So what modern icon is going to cover "The Freaks Come Out at Night"?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I want Britney to cover "Hello Dad? I'm in Jail."

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 11 October 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost: the perfect answer to the marilyn manson thread!
